About the Book

& the Author

Trout Fishing the Pacific Crest Trail California Edition is the culmination of years of fly fishing in California and a thirst for adventure in the back country. In April of 2015, I set out to hike the entire 2,650 miles of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail from the border of Mexico to the border of Canada within a single season. Being a fly fisherman and knowing that I would be traveling on foot through mountainous back-country for several months, I began to research the fishing opportunities I might encounter and was dismayed to find an acute lack of information on trailside trout water. I decided that I would pack an ultra-lite fly fishing rig along the entire trail and see for myself what the PCT had to offer. After catching hundreds of fish along miles of undocumented trailside water, I knew I had to create a guide book for fishing the PCT. This trout fishing guide book represents the first and only comprehensive encyclopedia of fishable trout waters along the California segment of the Pacific Crest Trail. I hope this book serves hikers and fisherman alike in their adventures and fishing expeditions. Tight Lines and Happy Trails! - Simon Melrose
